On October 18, 2025, Coloradans across the state will join the nationwide No Kings protest. They will be standing up for democracy, civil rights, and the constitutional values this country was built upon.
But protest is not always without risk. Some may face arrest. Others may be subjected to excessive force, wrongful detention, or mistreatment by law enforcement. If that happens, legal boundaries and protections still apply — and you don’t have to face it alone. We’re ready to step in, when your rights are stepped on.
Need Help Immediately?
What you need to know: your rights at protest
- You have the right to peaceful assembly and free speech under the First Amendment.
- You also have rights when interacting with police: the right to remain silent, the right to an attorney, and protections against unreasonable force or unlawful searches.
- Document every detail if police arrest or harm you: record officers’ names and badge numbers, film when possible, and collect witness contact information. Preserve medical and photographic evidence as well.
Why legal help matters
Immediate legal advice can help you avoid pitfalls such as coerced statements or missed deadlines. If police injure you or commit misconduct, hire experienced legal representation immediately. Strong counsel increases your chance of holding them accountable and obtaining proper compensation or a dismissal of charges.
