Can I File for a Civil Protection Order Online in El Paso County, Colorado?

Most websites will tell you the same thing: You can’t file for a civil protection order online in El Paso County. And technically, that’s true.
Colorado courts still require certain steps to happen “in person.” But for people living in fear, those old rules don’t always work.

At Pav Law, we’ve changed what’s possible.

The Old Rule: Show Up, Speak Up, Hope for the Best

Traditionally, anyone seeking a Temporary Protection Order (TPO) had to appear in person at the courthouse. Even though the other party isn’t yet aware of the request, the process itself can still be daunting — complicated paperwork, tight filing windows, and the prospect of testifying alone before a judge.

For victims working in secret to escape an abuser, simply being seen going into a courthouse can be dangerous. For many, it’s not just inconvenient — it’s unsafe.

And even for those who aren’t in physical danger, testifying before a judge can be deeply intimidating. Many petitioners freeze up, say too little, or lose focus under pressure. Even seasoned attorneys know that appearing in a courtroom is rarely comfortable.

The Pav Law Difference: Discreet Protection from Anywhere

Pav Law has pioneered a discreet, attorney-managed process that allows qualified petitioners to request and obtain a Temporary Protection Order without ever stepping foot in court — and without tipping off the other party.

Our workflow is designed for safety and privacy. Clients can work with us from almost anywhere — home, office, or another secure location — without raising suspicion or risking exposure.

Our attorneys handle the filings, the communications, and the court appearance itself. Through our process, petitioners can appear before a judge remotely, securely, and with their attorney by their side — all while remaining in a safe and comfortable place.

In other words: you can do one of the hardest things you’ll ever have to do — without ever walking into the courthouse.

What Happens Next

Once a Temporary Protection Order is granted, the court will schedule a final hearing to determine whether the order should become permanent. Every situation is unique, but even when in-person appearances are eventually required, our team works to minimize confrontation and make the process as safe and seamless as possible.

At every stage, our focus is on protection — both physical and emotional — so our clients can move forward without fear.

Representation for Both Sides

Pav Law represents both:

  • Petitioners — people seeking safety and stability through a civil protection order.
  • Respondents — individuals who have been served and need strong, experienced defense to ensure their rights are protected.

Protection orders carry serious legal and personal consequences. Whether you’re trying to get one or defend against one, you deserve a legal team that understands how these cases truly work — and how to keep you safe while doing it.
